REFERENCE / PRODUCTION TEAMS

What is a delivery round in a creative production?

A delivery round is a defined cycle in which a version is presented, reviewed and either approved or returned with changes. Its value comes from a clear scope and an identifiable decision. Wrong Opera supports delivery rounds and client review, while the team remains responsible for agreeing who approves what.

Name the decision before sharing the version

A board review, a voice review and a final-cut review ask different questions. Tell reviewers which layer is ready and which elements remain temporary. Without that context, someone may reject rough images when the real decision concerns story order.

Attach the round to an identifiable version. A comment such as the ending is too abrupt is difficult to act on when several different endings circulate. Stable naming and a short change note help people discuss the same material, even when the production moves quickly.

Prepare a compact review packet

The packet can be brief. It needs enough context for a reviewer to make the requested decision without reconstructing the project’s history.

Translate feedback into a bounded change request

If a reviewer says the scene feels slow, identify the relevant moment and intended effect. The action might be shorten the opening workshop survey so the broken clock appears sooner. That request is more useful than making the whole programme faster, which could damage later emotional beats.

Classify comments that conflict with each other and ask the responsible approver to resolve the direction. A production team should not quietly average incompatible requests. Record the accepted action, its reason and any upstream decision it changes. Wrong Opera’s comments and review rooms provide context, but the creative interpretation still requires people.

Close the round before presenting the next one

Summarise the outcome: approved aspects, requested changes and unresolved questions. The next delivery should state how the agreed changes were handled, including any request that exposed a new constraint. This prevents reviewers from repeating notes simply because they cannot see the response.

Before final approval, inspect the assembled result rather than relying only on a list of completed tasks. A shorter opening can alter the music timing or make a later line redundant. A round is complete when the requested decision is clear, not merely when every comment has a reply. Keep the record useful for future episodes and new collaborators.

Questions & answers

Does every small edit need a new client round?

Not necessarily. Agree which changes require stakeholder approval and which can be resolved internally within an already accepted direction.

Is a delivery round the same as a creative gate?

A gate identifies the creative layer being approved. A delivery round is a review cycle and can be used to reach or revisit that approval.
